OUR MISSION
Common Thread Opera connects people through the universal instrument of the human voice, bringing opera beyond the stage and into the heart of the community.
CORE VALUES
The Power of the Human Voice
We believe the human voice is the most natural form of connection, and by extension opera highlights this connection like no other art form. Opera singers create art in real time, using mind, body, and voice to soar over an orchestra without amplification. This extraordinary skill requires years of training, and we believe this centuries-old tradition deserves respect and preservation. We believe this craft should be shared with authenticity, inclusivity, and joy.
Uplifting Every Voice
We are committed to building a community where every individual- on and off the stage-feels seen, heard, and valued. Every voice carries meaning and beauty, and our work focuses on creating opportunities for authentic music-making, supporting emerging artists, and engaging audiences of all backgrounds. Through our work we amplify voices that have historically been underrepresented and foster spaces where everyone can connect through the shared experience of live art.
Voices in Community
The connection between performer and audience is sacred, and opera should be
welcoming to all. We seek to reach those who have never experienced this art form, breaking down barriers of accessibility and perception. By bringing opera into community spaces and creating meaningful experiences, we build lasting relationships between artists and audiences, allowing opera to resonate beyond the stage as part of the shared cultural voice of the community.
